How we make this
Plain facts, checked, with the source named.
Where stories come from
Stories start from public filings, company statements, regulators and trade press. A single filing is a signal, not a story: it becomes a post only when it means something for how a business works.
How a post gets checked
Each fact in a post is checked against its source, and numbers are worked out again from the figures they come from. Where something is a view and not a fact, it is labelled as one. A claim that cannot be confirmed does not go in as a fact.
Who does what
Posts are drafted with the help of software, including AI models, and a person reads and approves every post before anything is published.
The pictures
The pictures on our posts are generated with AI image tools. They illustrate an idea; they are not photographs of real events, products or people, and they are never presented as evidence. Real images, when we use one, carry their credit.
Numbers and quotes
Every number and every quote is checked against the source we cite, and the source is named on the post. A figure we work out ourselves is marked as an estimate and shows how it was worked out.
Corrections
If a mistake is found, the post is corrected and the correction is noted with its date on the Corrections page.
